After 13 races and the summer break almost over, it’s time to compare the teammates to each other. You can only really compare performance with the driver that drives the same car, namely your teammate.

Williams

After a one-year absence, Alexander Albon returned to Formula 1 this year, driving for Williams together with Nicholas Latifi. The stats from the first 13 races, show very clearly Albon having the upper hand against Latifi. Albon finishing higher in 10 of the 13 races and in qualifying he was faster during 11 Grand Prix’s. While Latifi didn’t score points, Albon managed to finish two races in the points.

Aston Martin

In what is now known as Vettel's final season, he clearly outperformed Lance Stroll in the first 13 races of the 2022 Formula 1 season. While Sebastian due to COVID missed the first 2 races of the season, he scored 4 times as many points as his teammate. Stroll finished a race in 10th place in 4 occasions, which is his highest finish result. Vettel highest finish result is a 6th place, at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

AlphaTauri

Compared to last year, it’s a bit closer between the teammates of AlphaTauri. Last year Tsunoda was only 1 time faster during qualifying out of 22 races. This year Yuki is already faster at 5 out of 13 GP’s during qualifying. Also when we compare Gasly and Tsunoda on their performance during the races, Gasly was faster 8 out of the 13 races. Last year Gasly was the fastest man during 16 of the 22 Grand Prix’s. So it looks like the gap between the teammates is getting a bit closer.

Haas

At the last moment Kevin Magnussen replaced Nikita Mazepin at Haas. With less testing as his teammate Mick Schumacher did, the start of Magnussen was impressive. Starting with a 5th place in Bahrain and a 9th place finish in Jeddah. Mick scored some good points during the British Grand Prix and the Austrian Grand Prix with a 8th and a 6th place finish. While Schumacher was faster at more Grand Prix’s so far this year, overal Magnussen looks like the faster driver.

Alfa Romeo

Valtteri Bottas moved from the winning Mercedes team to Alfa Romeo, to became the teamleader next to rookie Guanyu Zhou. The way more experienced Bottas showed what he is capable of in a Formula 1 car. In the first 13 races he scored more then 9 times the amount of point Zhou scored. Fair to say that Zhou had 4 DNF’s, which 3 of them where technical related.

McLaren

Just like last year, Norris continuing beating his teammate Ricciardo this season. In 13 races Lando finished higher on 9 occasions. In the first 13 qualifying sessions of the 2022 F1 season, Norris was 11 times faster the faster driver. Daniel’s best result for the first half of the season was a 6th place during his home race. Norris his best result was better, with a podium finish at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. This all translate to the driver standings, with Daniel Ricciardo on 12th position with 19 points and Lando Norris in 7th with 76 points.

Alpine

The Alpine drivers are looking relative even when we look at the stats. During the races Esteban Ocon was faster 8 times compared to 5 times for Alonso. In qualifying it’s turned the other way around, where Fernando was faster during 8 GP’s and Ocon at 5. Esteban scored 17 points more than Fernando did, he scored a total of 58 points while Alonso scored a total of 41 points. What's worth mentioning is the fact that in the last 8 races Fernando was able to score points.

Mercedes

The constructor champion of 2021 started the season far off the pace of Ferrari and Red Bull, but their car looks very reliable. During the first half of the season, Mercedes only had 1 DNF, due to a first lap collision. While Lewis scored a podium finish in the first race, it was Russell who was the faster driver in the first Grand Prix’s. Hamilton came back strong, so the stats are reasonable equal. Lewis was on the podium in the last 5 races and Mercedes scored a double podium in the last 2 races.

Ferrari

The stats show Charles Leclerc is the faster guy during the qualification, but on Sunday they both where faster during 6 Grand Prix’s. A lot of points where lost due to DNF’s, Ferrari had a total of 7 DNF’s during the first 13 races. 4 times did Sainz not finish the race and 3 times Leclerc. That Charles Leclerc is quick during the qualification is shown by his 7 poles. Another fact; he won only 2 races from those 7 pole positions.

Red Bull

Max Verstappen show some impressive stats during the first half of the 2022 F1 season. He won 8 out of 13 races and finished on the podium 10 times. Pérez won 1 race and was on the podium 6 times. So based on these stats Max is clearly ahead of Pérez. This is also visible in the standings, where Max is 85 points ahead of Checo. If we compare the stats of this year and the stats of last year, Sergio is noticeable closer to Max. He has beaten Verstappen more times in qualification and during the race in the first half this year, then in whole last year.
