The 2022 United States Grand Prix was another victory for Max Verstappen, which was his 15th podium and 13th win of the season. This season contained two Grand Prix’ in the USA, Max winning both of them.
Some other facts about the race:
After Max Verstappen’ win at the United States Grand Prix, Red Bull secured their 5th constructor championship. They are now, along with Mercedes of course, the only team to have won a Constructors' title in the Hybrid era.
With his 33rd career win and his 13th this season, Max Verstappen is now equal to Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel with most wins in a season. Fair to say there are now more races than when they set the records. Vettel scored his 13 victories in 2013, when there were a total of 19 races. Schumacher won 13 races in 2004, a season with 18 races.
Max can get one step further, with still 3 races to go he can theoretically end up with 16 wins in total. With the current season having 22 races, 16 wins in total would mean a win percentage of 72.7%. Schumacher’ 13 wins out of 18 races is 72.2% and Vettel’ 13 out of 19 is 68.4%. If Max isn’t able to win anymore races this season he has a win percentage of 59%.
In a couple of days we’ll head to Mexico for the Mexico City Grand Prix. Since 2021 the race in Mexico is no longer called the Mexican Grand Prix. The race will be held, just like every other Grand Prix in Mexico, on the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The first time this circuit hosted a Grand Prix was in 1963 and the race this year will be the 22nd edition.
While missing the 2020 race due to Covid, since 2016 the Grand Prix in Mexico was only won by two drivers; Max Verstappen & Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton won the race in 2016 and 2019, Verstappen won the race in 2017, 2018 and 2021. With his 3 wins, Max Verstappen is also the driver with the most wins at the circuit in Mexico City.
Jim Clark was fastest during qualifying the most times at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, scoring a pole position 4 times in total. Ayrton Senna is in second place with a total of 3 pole positions and Nigel Mansell has 2 pole positions. Max Verstappen never started from 1st on the grid during a race in Mexico.
